Choosing from over forty courses in a dozen subject areas, students in the 2-week program select up to two curricular options per session, and students in the 1-week program select one curricular option per session for an in-depth examination of a specific subject area. Subject Areas include Architecture, Arts, Biology, Economics, Writing, Law, Marketing and Communications, Mathematics, Philosophy and Humanities, Physical Sciences, Politics, Social Sciences, and Technology and Computer Programming
Courses in the 2-Week program meet for three hours a day, Monday through Friday. Classes are from 8:00–11:00 a.m. or 5:00–8:00 p.m.
Courses in the 1-Week program meet for two hours every morning and afternoon, Monday through Friday. Students are normally given a ten-minute break halfway through each class meeting.
Hours outside meeting times are devoted to lunch, relaxation, and various co- and extracurricular activities.
Students will attend class during the designated meeting times found on the individual course description pages. All courses are offered synchronously with live classroom instruction taught by scholars and practitioners who are experts in their fields. Courses are designed to be experiential and collaborative, while taking advantage of Columbia's online learning technology.
In addition to the Instructor, each online classroom will have a designated Course Facilitator to assist with course technology. In this way, instructors can focus solely on the class lesson and on providing attention to individual students.
Instructors utilize CourseWorks to interact with students outside of course meeting times. The platform is used for homework, feedback, and discussions. All courses are taught using Zoom, an online video-conferencing platform.
